There are hundreds of Watt descendants and there have been a number of articles written about the area and the family in various genealogical publications. The link to William Redfern is spoken of in the family, but no-one knows for sure. Hoever, Redfern is a not uncommon name in Ireland so it may be just coincidence.
Anne Watt, who married Neil McDiarmid is said to be William's sister. Apparently the relationship is mentioned in Neil's diary whose wheerabouts I don't know, but certainly William Redfern Watt was a witness at the marriage. Her parents are listedas Andrew and Margaret. Your Elizabeth Pettigrew's parents are listed as Andrew and Margaret.
Thomas died in Forbes in 1878 but no parents are shown.
Do you, or does someone else in the family have a copy of the record of the marriage of Elizabeth Watt to Thomas Pettigrew? I'm wondering how a girl from Belfast ended up marrying in Donegal and then moving to Scotland. Also, I can't find a shipping arrival for Elizabeth Pettigrew. When did she come over?
Your website was informative to a point, but a lot of it is listed as private. What happened to William Lachlan Macquarie Watt (whose name certainly indicates the Australian connection)?
Sue doesn't have a website and we're collecting information a this point and trying to pin down all the siblings from Ireland.
