David Cullinane email to Paul King, 8/8/06: "I don't know much about Aunty Mona's family, I think the Bowens were living in Randwick, Sydney, when she met and married Uncle Bob. There might be a Bowen website somewhere on the www with some background. It'll probably come up with a million Americans, like the Pettigrew site does. It's possible your uncle Bob might know more - I haven't been in touch with him for decades - and I guess you've asked father Donald. But did I tell you Aunty Mona once showed me a picture of her great (I think) grandfather who lived in Tasmania? Showed him as the state penny-farthing bike champion, along with his penny-farthing bike. He bore a very strong resemblance to your uncle Bob. I'd like think someone has that safely put away." David Cullinane letter to Paul King 07/08/07 ".. I think her parents were shopkeepers there (Randwick); I once met a cousin of hers when I was in my very early teens, called Venus something, but all I can remember is she didn't live up to hername." |

Don King Email to Paul King 29/6/07: Patrick John Bowen, Occupation; Builder / carpenter and Janie Gray. Mona was born 10 July 1905, Rowntree Street, Balmain Municipality, Sydney. Mona had an older sister Rita and an older brother Sydney and apparently another older brother -George who I never met or heard of - perhaps he died early?Perhaps you could check with Bob about this (he is older than me so will have clearer recollection -At the time of Monas birth there were also two males and one female children deceased. Mona never mentioned these to me. (I only found out about them on her birth certificate). For full details about my fathers side - David Cullinane has all the answers. I notice that on Matthew's earlier chart he had A Bowen and Fanny Lovett as the parents of PatricK John. We could not find ant records of these two at all. Perhaps you could ask Matthew directly where he got these names from? As he is in Sydney hemay be able to look at the Sydney records you asked about. ..." |
